The Individuality of Happiness

 In Articles, Happiness, Quote

Happiness is a very individual pursuit. What makes one person happy, may not necessarily make another happy. In fact, what makes one person happy may be the exact opposite of happiness for another. Take horse riding- personally, I love horse riding and am truly happy when I do it, however, the mere thought of jumping on the back of a horse while it runs wild literally turns a good friend of mine into a plate of jelly. Well, not literally, but you know what I mean!

I recently read a blog post by Shrubhra Krishan at Care2, where she listed some of the things her friends said made them truly happy. The answers were as diverse as a first trip to Amsterdam, a frangipani tree growing in a pot, and close relationships with children. It got me thinking about just how individual happiness is. Nobody but you knows what makes you truly happy, so only you can make it happen!

In the eternal words of Abraham Lincoln:

We are as happy as we make up our minds to be. -Abraham Lincoln

What makes you happy?
